Fall Conference Recap, Pantone, and Print[ED] Drive Updates

We hope everyone had a Great holiday weekend!

On November 2nd we held our most recent event, our 2022 Fall Professional Learning Day. We started with a presentation from Tonya Powers of Canon Solutions America and Cindy Cummings of thINK User Group about their role in the industry, specifically the inkjet market, their partnership with Print[ED], as well as a discussion on how together we can help grow our programs through their support. Our collaboration will include online learning materials for Print[ED] Accreditated instructors and their programs and specific apprenticeships at Canon and thINK companies. You can find a great introduction video on their involvement with inkjet technology as well as the shift from toner to inkjet here: Shift to Canon Inkjet. Next, we had one of our local Print[ED] instructors, Jimmy Roeder of Kenwood High School, discuss Wide Format in his classroom. He went over projects, equipment, and some suggestions on where to acquire different materials and tools. You can find a list of his tools and equipment here: Wide Format Tools & Equipment. Thanks again for sharing Jimmy!

It was great to see everyone who could join! Keep an eye out for our next event, our Winter Professional Learning Day, early next year!

Pantone: Color Confusion

This article, recommended by Print[ED] Instructor Jacob Wheeler, goes into what happened with Pantone being removed from Adobe Programs, the future, as well as what you can do in the meantime.

"Adobe’s decision to drop Pantone colour books has caused concern among users. So what does it mean for printers and what other options are there?" Click Here for Full Article

Update to Print[ED] Skeleton Folders

With the update to our Print[ED] Standards back in August, we wanted to make sure we reflected that in the pre-made Skeleton Folders for those starting a new accreditation. In short, the Skeletons are empty folders reflecting the Print[ED] Standards for you to easily populate with the necessary documents. You can find the updated Folders in our Print[ED] Shared Drive.

Are you an accredited program and not a member of the drive? Email us at info@print-ed.org and we'll get you added!
